Não é segredo que o Bairro Alto e o Príncipe Real albergam alguns dos melhores pontos de Lisboa, seja para admirar a paisagem, petiscar, beber um copo e fazer compras... de quase tudo.
Em futuros posts faremos menção a outros recantos destas zonas, mas hoje apostamos em duas "varandas": A primeira, o sobejamente conhecido miradouro do Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara, dono de uma vista fantástica que engloba a Avenida (de onde o turista e os saudosistas de Rádio Macau podem chegar no Elevador da Glória), o Castelo e o Rio.

No primeiro consta que existem uns fantásticos cachorros que não vamos deixar de experimentar muito em breve. No segundo já lá parámos para comer (e beber) algumas vezes. E vamos continuar a fazê-lo!
A esplanada do Lost In combina o que resta de um pequeno quintal português com um ambiente de inspiração asiática, sobretudo indiana. Mas se esperam que a ementa siga apenas a oferta de artigos indianos da loja, desenganem-se. Apesar de apregoar comida rápida Indiana/Paquistanesa, e Fusão asiática (termos que ficam sempre bem) aqui também se comem uns razoáveis ovos mexidos com farinheira, e umas boas e bem generosas tostas de presunto, brie e confit de cebola, ou a tosta Lost In Margarita, com tomate, queijo e flor de sal. Serve bem um conceito de Brunch a que também aderiu (são cada vez mais, e nós contentes já que não nos apetece almoço ao Fim-de-Semana), sem ser buffet. E com vinho a copo, embora de oferta escassa.
Para os mais tradicionalistas ou menos dados a iguarias pesadas, também lá havia sopa de legumes (que pedimos, mas que o rapaz se esqueceu de trazer).O ambiente é realmente relaxante, mesmo do mais acolhedor que temos visto para um fim de tarde, e a vista sobre Lisboa é boa sim senhor, mas, e há sempre um mas, aconselhava-se maior cuidado com a decoração: Há uns cabos há vista que perturbam a vista e não ficam lá nada bem, e também mais algumas almofadas nos bancos de madeira. Também há pouco resguardo para a chuva, e facilmente uns pinguitos fazem debandar.

It is not a hidden secret that Bairro Alto and Principe Real host some of the best spots of Lisbon, either to admire the landscape, have a snack, a drink or even for shopping. In future posts we will mention other spots on this neighbourhood, but today we bet in two "balconies" : First, the well known belvedere of Jardim São Pedro de Alcântara, with a fantastic sight that embodies Avenida da Liberdade (from which you can catch Elevador da Gloria to reach Bairro Alto), the Castle and the river.
Quite nearby, a little above, the belvedere-esplanade of Lost-In (self -entitled "the most shanti spot and with one of the best sights of the city of Lisbon"). In the first one we have heard that we can find some fantastic hot-dogs which we plan to taste really soon. In the second we have stopped sometimes to eat (and drink). And we will keep doing it!
The esplanade of Lost In combines what remains of a small Portuguese backyard with an environment of Asian inspiration, especially from India. But if you expected that the menu follows barely the offering of Indian articles of the adjacent shop, think again. In spite of proclaim Indian/Pakistani quick food, and Asian Fusion (always sounds nice) here also some reasonable scrambled eggs with "farinheira" are served , and some good and well generous toast with ham, brie and "confit" of onion, or the toast "Lost In Margarita", with tomato, cheese and salt. It suits well a concept of Brunch (there are more and more places serving brunch, for which we are grateful as we are almost never in the mood to have lunch on the weekend), but "a la carte" instead of buffet. You can as well have a glass of red wine, but the offer is low on diversity.
For the most traditionalist or less given to heavy delicacies, there was also a soup of vegetables (we asked for, but the waiter forgot to bring it). The environment is really relaxing, even one of the most welcoming that we have seen for an end of afternoon, and the view over Lisbon is indeed good, but, and there is always a but, its advisable to have bigger care with the decoration: There are some cables that disturb the view and don't look nice at all, and some more cushions in the wooden banks would be good as well.
Briefly, a place to retain for brunch or an afternoon snack, in sunny days (it has an interior area as well, as it seems, but we loose the added value of the esplanade). There are still many delicacies to experience and we still didn't have the displeasure of finding it too crowed. And if it happens one day, there's plenty of possibilities around. Like that hot-dog we mentioned.
